Our History... and Future
MGSI Glass was founded in 1978 as "Marv's Glass Specialties" by Marv Robertson, and has been an Iowa City institution ever since. Marv's Glass operated successfully for the next 15 years under Marv's direction, installing commercial and residential products throughout Iowa City and the surrounding area. Notable projects include Tanger Outlet in Williamsburg, and the Paul Brechler Press Box Renovation at Kinnick Stadium.
Our history of excellence continued after being purchased by Tom Keating in 1993. Tom's tenure saw the business flourish by enhancing our reputation through focusing on quality improvement. During these years, processes and procedures were implemented to ensure that each job was delivered on time and the highest standards of installation. In 2012, we adopted the name "MGSI, Ltd", a nod to our roots as Marv's Glass and looking forward to the future as a modern company.
In 2016, Jon Taylor began a partnership with Tom Keating as he looked ahead to retirement. After five years, Jon completed the purchase of 100% of the company and is carrying on the tradition of our commitment to quality and continual process improvement. Under his direction, MGSI Glass has been preparing for the future by investing in new technology, strengthening our safety program, increasing our scope of services, and transforming the culture within the business to encourage and foster personal and professional growth.
Our company has grown in size and scope offering over the last 46 years, but our unwavering commitment to quality and our people has remained the same.
